The blue and white together create a palette that feels like clear sky above the Atlas Mountains, light and infinite and deeply peaceful.
The diamond lattice draws from the mountain peaks of the Atlas range that have defined the Berber visual landscape for centuries, the form repeated across the full surface in an all-over pattern that fills the composition with quiet rhythm and structure. In the Amazigh tradition, the diamond lattice is one of the most enduring compositions, passed from weaver to weaver across generations, each new piece a continuation of a visual language that connects the weaver to her community and her landscape. The rug I ordered arrived exactly as pictured. Before shipping, AfriKesh sent me photos for approval, which I appreciated. From ordering the rug to receiving it took just under two months, but that's fine for such a quality piece (and for something custom so large). It doesn't smell weird either, which I was admittedly a little worried about. They packaged it nicely for shipping but I would definitely be careful while opening it. Don't use a box cutter!!! If I ever need another rug I will definitely be ordering from here again.
