This is a sage green Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted in our workshop in Morocco. The entire composition plays within a single green family, a deep olive sage ground cut through by lighter mint green lines that form a dense abstract pattern across the full field. The upper portion carries vertical stripe forms that break and shift at irregular intervals, while the lower and central sections open into larger free-form geometric shapes, arched and angular negative space that emerges from the stripe rhythm like a pattern within a pattern. The composition is tonal, intricate, and deeply alive.
Tonal weaving in the Amazigh tradition reflects a deep confidence in craft, the decision to let two shades of the same color carry the entire composition without contrast or additional color to do the work. The vertical stripe forms draw from the rivers and seasonal streams that run down through the Atlas Mountains, lines of movement and life that have run alongside Berber villages for generations. The free-form geometric shapes that emerge in the lower field reflect the Amazigh tradition of embedding architectural details into the rug field, arched doorways and carved plasterwork of the medina translated into wool. White hand-knotted fringe finishes both ends.
Why you'll love it:
- Authentic Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted by Berber artisans in Morocco
- High pile, 100% natural wool, no synthetics, no machine finishing
- Tonal sage green field with deep olive and mint abstract vertical stripe and geometric pattern
- Custom sizes available, woven to order in 3 to 5 weeks.
- Ships worldwide in 4 to 7 business days.
- DDP shipping included (no extra customs fees, duty-free delivery).
Made entirely by hand on a traditional loom. No machines, no shortcuts. Every knot tied by a skilled artisan, every row built one thread at a time. Natural wool softens with use, becoming more itself the longer it is lived with.
Pairs beautifully with warm wood, linen, rattan, and terracotta. A considered, nature-rooted choice for any interior that draws from the natural world.
Slight color variation is natural in hand-dyed wool. Questions are always welcome.
