A warm ivory ground carries a rich, free-form composition of geometric shapes across the entire field, diamond forms, stepped triangles, and diagonal stripe sections in brown, pink, blue, sage green, orange, and taupe. Each element sits independently across the surface, placed with spontaneity and confidence, the overall composition feeling alive and completely personal.
The Boujaad rug tradition comes from the Khouribga region of central Morocco, where Berber weavers are known for their expressive, free-form compositions and warm earthy palettes. The diamond forms scattered across the field draw from the mountain peaks of the Atlas range that have defined the Berber visual landscape for centuries. The stepped triangles and diagonal stripe sections reflect the Amazigh tradition of embedding architectural and landscape elements into the rug field, forms drawn from the terraced hillsides and carved plasterwork of the Moroccan countryside. The freely placed color elements across the ivory ground reflect the deeply personal nature of Boujaad weaving, each mark a choice made by the individual weaver.
