The composition is bold and graphic, built from three distinct elements that together create something painterly and alive. At the center a large pink square sits inside a lime yellow border, the two color blocks nested together against a wide white field. Below the color block, the white ground opens into a series of loose black horizontal stripes that spread toward the fringe, adding movement and contrast to the lower half of the piece. A black and white dot border finishes both ends, framing the composition cleanly from top to bottom.
The nested color block form draws from the Amazigh tradition of dividing the rug field into distinct zones of meaning, one boundary within another, each color carrying its own weight and character. The pink and yellow at the center draw from the wildflowers and saffron fields of the Moroccan countryside, colors that have shaped the Berber visual palette for generations. The horizontal black stripes in the lower field reflect the layered horizons of the Atlas landscape, the flat lines of plateau and plain stretching out beneath the mountain peaks.
