This is a white and black Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted in our workshop in Morocco. A clean, open white field carries a scattered composition of black Amazigh symbols across its surface, X forms, double cross marks, hourglass shapes, zigzag lines, and small diamond motifs placed freely across the field in diminishing scale from top to bottom. A bold black border frames all four edges, structured and clean, giving the piece a strong graphic finish. The close-up images reveal a dense, luxurious pile with exceptional construction quality, the back of the rug showing the precision of the hand-knotted technique.
The scattered symbols across the field draw from the ancient Tifinagh script and visual language of the Amazigh people, marks that Berber weavers have embedded in textiles for generations, each one a trace of identity, protection, and communal memory. The X and cross forms draw from the crossroads of mountain paths where Berber tribes gathered to trade and share stories across the Atlas region. The hourglass and zigzag forms reflect the rivers and seasonal streams that run through the Berber landscape, lines of movement and life. The diminishing scale of the marks from the top of the rug to the bottom reflects the Amazigh tradition of composing the field as a landscape, distant forms above and closer details below. Black and white striped fringe finishes both ends.

Why you'll love it:

- Authentic Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted by Berber artisans in Morocco
- High pile, 100% natural wool, no synthetics, no machine finishing
- White field with scattered black Amazigh symbols and bold black border on all four edges
- Custom sizes available, woven to order in 3 to 5 weeks.
- Ships worldwide in 4 to 7 business days.
- DDP shipping included (no extra customs fees, duty-free delivery).

Made entirely by hand on a traditional loom. No machines, no shortcuts. Every knot tied by a skilled artisan, every row built one thread at a time. Natural wool softens with use, becoming more itself the longer it is lived with.
Pairs beautifully with warm wood, linen, and any minimal interior where the symbols can be read clearly and appreciated up close.
Slight color variation is natural in hand-dyed wool. Questions are always welcome.
