This is a white and brown Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted in our workshop in Morocco. A clean white field is divided into large open squares by a continuous rust brown grid of lines running horizontally and vertically across the entire surface. In the upper left portion of the rug a solid rust brown rectangle fills several grid squares completely, sitting within the grid like a color block that belongs to the composition rather than interrupting it. The two elements, the open grid and the filled rectangle, work together to create something that feels both structured and painterly.
The grid form draws from the Amazigh tradition of dividing the rug field into distinct sections, each zone its own territory, each line a boundary between spaces. In the Berber weaving tradition, the crossing of horizontal and vertical lines reflects the layout of the cultivated land below the Atlas Mountains, fields divided by stone walls and irrigation channels into the orderly patchwork that has fed Berber communities across generations. The solid rust brown rectangle within the grid draws from the sun-baked clay walls of Berber villages, a single zone of color filling its bounded space the way a home fills its plot of land. White hand-knotted fringe finishes both ends.

Why you'll love it:

- Authentic Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted by Berber artisans in Morocco
- High pile, 100% natural wool, no synthetics, no machine finishing
- White field with rust brown grid line pattern and solid color block upper panel
- Custom sizes available, woven to order in 3 to 5 weeks.
- Ships worldwide in 4 to 7 business days.
- DDP shipping included (no extra customs fees, duty-free delivery).

Made entirely by hand on a traditional loom. No machines, no shortcuts. Every knot tied by a skilled artisan, every row built one thread at a time. Natural wool softens with use, becoming more itself the longer it is lived with.
Pairs beautifully with warm wood, linen, aged leather, and raw plaster. A considered, architectural choice for a living room or bedroom that favors structure and warmth in equal measure.
Slight color variation is natural in hand-dyed wool. Questions are always welcome.
