This is an amber and white flatweave kilim, handwoven in our workshop in Morocco. A warm, deep amber fills the dominant field, framed by bold white zigzag borders that run along both long edges from top to bottom. Across the amber field, a diamond lattice of fine braided white lines creates an all-over geometric pattern, the crossing lines forming a repeating grid of open diamonds that covers the full surface. The composition is strong, warm, and deeply traditional, a piece that carries centuries of Berber weaving knowledge in every row.
The zigzag border draws from the rivers and streams that wind through the Atlas Mountains, a form that has carried meaning in Amazigh weaving for generations, lines of movement and life running through the Berber landscape. The diamond lattice across the field echoes the mountain peaks of the Atlas range that have defined the Berber visual landscape for centuries, the form repeated across the full surface in an all-over pattern that fills the composition with rhythm and energy. The braided texture of the diamond lines adds a fine handmade detail visible only up close. Orange and white braided fringe finishes both ends.

The rug is beautiful and looks mostly as pictured! The color is slightly off from the pictures. It is definitely more orange. We ordered it with tassels but it came without tassels. Probably a blessing in disguise because the tassels might have made the rug too big for our space! Took longer than expected to arrive, but these are small complaints. Overall, very happy.
